NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting Course

The NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting course is designed for individuals of all experience levels, regardless of prior shooting knowledge or NRA affiliation. This comprehensive, instructor-led course offers hands-on training and personalized instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from start to finish.

Course Topics Include:

  • Gun safety rules
  • Rifle parts and operation
  • Ammunition
  • Shooting fundamentals
  • Range rules
  • Shooting positions: bench rest, prone, sitting, standing, kneeling
  • Rifle cleaning
  • Opportunities for continued skill development

During the course, students will engage in live fire training on the range under the supervision of an NRA Certified Instructor. Participants will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, complete the Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and be awarded a course completion certificate signed by the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.

What to Bring:

  • A rifle cleaning kit (contact us with any questions regarding this requirement)
  • .22 LR caliber rifle and ammunition (if owned; otherwise, a rifle will be provided)

Important Information:

  • No live ammunition is allowed during the class.
  • We will exclusively use .22 caliber rifles.
  • No refunds for no-shows. Cancellations are subject to a 50% restocking fee.

 

NRA Basics of Rifle Instructor Course

The NRA Rifle Instructor Course is a comprehensive 16-hour training designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to organize, promote, and teach the NRA Basic Rifle Shooting course.

Prerequisites:

  • Basic firearm safety and shooting skills.
  • Completion of the NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting Courseas a student.
  • Pre-course questionnaire and assessment exercises (contact us to schedule).

Course Structure:

  • Day 1: Basic Instructor Training (BIT)
  • Day 2: Discipline-specific instructor training

Participants will demonstrate their organizational and teaching abilities through practical exercises and complete an instructor certification examination. If you have completed the BIT within the last 12 months, you can attend only Day 2 for $150. Contact the instructor for more details on registration.

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is designed for individuals of all experience levels, regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation.

Course Topics Include:

  • Gun safety rules
  • Proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
  • Ammunition knowledge and selection
  • Pistol selection and storage
  • Shooting fundamentals
  • Pistol inspection and maintenance
  • Marksmanship
  • Shooting range safety

During the course, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification under the supervision of an NRA Certified Instructor. Participants will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, complete the Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate signed by the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.

NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Course

The NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Course is an instructor-level certification designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to teach the NRA Basic Pistol curriculum.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Completion of the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Instructor Led training (documentation required).
  • Successful completion of a skills evaluation, including a shooting test with a service caliber firearm (no .22 caliber firearms).

A pre-qualification must be completed before the first day of class.

Course Structure:

  • This is a two-day course.
  • Basic Instructor Training (BIT) is included on Saturday.
  • If you have not completed BIT within the last 12 months, attendance on Saturday is mandatory for certification.

 

MEDICAL

CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification Course

Enhance your emergency response skills with our comprehensive CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification Course. This training provides hands-on experience in basic wound and injury care, CPR, and rescue breathing techniques. You’ll also learn to operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and earn a two-year certification recognized by OSHA.

Advanced Bleed Control (ABC) – Stop the Bleed

For those who engage in outdoor activities or shooting sports, mastering bleed control is essential. Our Advanced Bleed Control (ABC) course teaches life-saving techniques to manage traumatic bleeding wounds. Gain hands-on experience using tools such as compression dressings, tourniquets, and hemostatic dressings. This certification is valid for two years.

How to Build an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK)

By the end of this session, you’ll know what to pack, where to get supplies, and how to effectively carry your medical kits.

OTHER TRAINING

Multi-State Non-Resident Carry Permit Course

Dates: TBD
Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

This 16-hour course is designed to meet the requirements for obtaining a non-resident Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permit for Maryland, New Jersey, Utah, Arizona, and Florida, as specified by the Maryland State Police, New Jersey State Police, Utah BCI, Arizona State Police, and Florida Department of Agriculture.

Course Highlights:

  • Day One (Classroom Instruction):
    Topics include basic firearms hardware and skills review, law review, appropriate use of force, situational awareness, and shoot/no-shoot scenario-based exercises.
  • Day Two (Range Activities):
    Participants will engage in live fire exercises and a live fire qualification course. Shooters must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher (depending on state requirements).

Course Requirements:

  • Experience:
    This course is not for beginners. Participants must have a working knowledge of their handgun and shooting skills. Holster training will be provided.
  • Equipment:
    • Minimum of 300 rounds of ammunition
    • Hard-sided holster worn on the hip with a CCW belt (no trigger finger locking holsters like SERPA, no nylon holsters)
    • No off-body carry (e.g., purses, fanny packs, briefcases)
    • No shoulder, bra, ankle, or appendix holsters (attend our holster clinics for these)
    • At least 3 functioning magazines and a magazine pouch
    • Eye and ear protection (electronic hearing protection required)

Important Notes:

  • There is a qualification test at the end of the course.
  • Safety equipment requirements are non-negotiable.
  • Inappropriate gear will result in dismissal with no refunds.
  • No refunds for no-shows. Cancellations are subject to a 50% restocking fee.
